Welcome to Portobello Farm and the first of our home grown products.
Bedfordshire’s Ivel Valley has long been noted for its rich alluvial soil and the healthy crops it traditionally produces but with the changing climatic conditions we decided that the time was right to move some of our production to a less conventional crop.
We have taken great care in bringing our Ivel Valley Gold Sunflower Oil to customers and hope that it will become a firm favourite.
Our sunflowers are grown further north than usual and they mature over a longer period which is not as commercially beneficial but results in an enhanced peppery flavour. The distinctive taste is retained by cold pressing the seeds - again a procedure not normally favoured by large producers. It is our intention never to sacrifice the quality of our oil for mass production and will therefore always be an exclusive ingredient in the kitchen.
